I've always known that my dad fabricated a cannon when I was a kid, but I never really got the story straight. It crossed cognitively too much with events like the Free Monkey Incident, when we advertised a couple of retirees from the biology lab that briefly served as my pets. Hundreds of callers rang us at a frantic clip, even more than for the Free Boat ad when we finally got rid of the Haardluck. This one particular call I remember was picked up by the three-year-old me, who succinctly answered a query of, "Do you still have the free monkeys?" with the factually correct, though irrelevant, "My daddy's got a gun."

I'm turning another year older in a couple of days, and once again I found myself having to tally up how old I am. It's the weirdest thing--I honestly get confused. Hadn't done it for a while, though. I could never remember how old I was between 31-33, and now I had to stop and think to figure out what year I'm wrapping up.

Never mind which it is.

Warning: under this link are about thirty photos and text. It's a little photo-chronology about my life.  )
