At work, anyway.

The nice thing about work with other usability folks is that they're used to jumping into someone's emotional state and actually getting it. "I feel weird," I told a coworker, "kind of discombobulated."

"Oh, yes," he said, "Ending a job. Lost, adrift, even if you know what's going to happen next." Yep, felt definitely adrift and odd today, but left with lots of hugs and well wishes. A lot has happened this year. Eyup.

Still, very glad I planned my trip to happen so quickly. I'm no good at being unemployed, especially after going full speed for so long. It feels like hitting that brick wall. (Come to think of it, a lot like finishing grad school. You'd think I'd be used to little puddles by now.) I'm not very good at rest and relaxation. If I didn't have my vaccination appointment tomorrow, I'd go climb a mountain.
